Guess what Design Team member Carol gifted her friends at Christmas?
Well, I have been waiting for these dies for my whole life. I knew immediately they were released I would use them for many different embellishments when crafting but as soon as our Lou Lou mentioned her dangles (oh, err missus! - but for anyone not in the know, she is referring to the additions to the spines which personalise her albums in a beautiful way), I thought of the perfect use for the small pieces of left over cardstock and papers that are too nice to throw away (I know, what crafter ever does that!) You otherwise need only a small piece of ribbon or twine. Whilst following a basic method, these bookmarks are a quick and easy make and can be so varied and I had a jolly old thinking of ways to make them personalised too. I used a rounded corner punch but this is not essential.
You will need to cut:
From cardstock: One piece for the bookmark (I made mine 6 x 1 ½ inch)
Two of the larger stamps from the die set in the shape of your choosing
From patterned paper: Two pieces for the bookmark (if using the above measurements, cut at 5 ¾ x 1 ¼ inch)
Two smaller stamps in the corresponding shape
Ribbon or twine Approx. 5 inches in length
Starting with the stamp pieces, stick the patterned paper to the cardstock for each stamp. Add a small dab of glue to the centre back of one stamp about a quarter of the way down and place the ribbon (remembering to leave the top edge clear of glue). When dry, carefully lining up the edges, stick the second completed stamp on the back of the first, thus trapping the ribbon in place.
If you are going to round the corners of your bookmark and papers, do it at the outset. Stick one piece of patterned paper centrally to the cardstock. On the other side, attach the free end of the ribbon using the same technique as above described. When dry, again lining up the edges, stick the second piece of patterned paper centrally.
Then personalise and make a fabulous gift which easily fits inside a birthday or Christmas card and will show the recipient the little extra thought that has gone into making something personal. As an added bonus, the last photo shows that the reverse piece from the stamp cutting die makes a lovely little frame for an accent on an album page or…on the wall of a CKC miniature piece. Win win!
What a great idea for a quick and easy gift.
