Elizabeth's 1/12 scale hexagon quilt

Elizabeth's 1/12 scale hexagon quilt

When Kay and Maggie said their newest range of dies would include a
Hexagon set I was overjoyed! As someone who loves to sew, the first thing
that popped into my head was how fabulous this new set would be for
English Paper Piecing.

I cut the fabric two sheets at a time using the largest die from the
1/12th set of Hexagons and the papers from the middle sized die.

As with traditional paper piecing, centre the paper on the reverse of the
fabric and fold over the edges making sure they are even. I like to use
a fabric glue to secure the edges but you can also tack the edges down too.

After creating a stack of Hexagons whilst watching my favourite tv
programme I stitched them together using a clear nylon thread until I
reached the size needed for my Bed Quilt....................oops did I
say bed.............ahem anyway then I trimmed it into an oblong shape.

The back of the quilt is a plain piece of fabric cut larger that the
quilt and the edges are folded over and handstitched down to create a
border.

How fabulous is that, and if Elizabeth has inspired you to create your
own miniature textile project you will find all the links you need
below, just add fabric scraps from your own stash.
