Fay’s Table
I carefully removed all the pieces and laid out each part in piles. This meant that it was easier when gluing together and meant that I glued it correctly!
I glued each part together and allowed them to dry whilst doing the next. I found it easier to turn over the chair and use a table edge when gluing. This gave me a square finish and meant the chair didn't fall apart before stuck.
I used the leftover chair sections to create a mini planter.
I cut patterned paper with the CoolKatz new floor tile die. As I had a plain table, I wanted a bright, very decorative floor. I glued sections and then stuck the tiles down before allowing the whole thing to dry overnight.
Once the table was glued and completely dry, I had to decide on a theme. As it was only 4 months to Christmas, I decided it had to be a Christmas day meal theme. I wanted the brilliant accessories to stand out so decided to paint the table a weathered brown look. I started with a dark brown and dry brushed light brown and cream paint over the top, focusing on areas where wear would naturally take place - table edges, table legs and corners.
The platters and plates just needed some food. I created the turkey, potatoes, peas, carrots and a cake out of air dried clay.
I used the Teflon pencil to create texture on the turkey skin. I allowed all the parts to dry, painted and then stuck onto the plates.
The crackers and stocking plate covers were made cutting thin card using the CoolKatz die sets. Once cut, the crackers were glued and two ends pulled together using cotton thread. Glitter glue was added to the top of the stocking plate cover before spray painted cutlery were stuck on top.
I used glue to stick the candles onto the spray painted candle holder. I found flipping it over as it dried allow the candles to dry as straight as possible. Finally, I used clear nail polish to paint the glasses to give a transparent finish. Ribbon was stuck onto the table and all accessories with stuck on top.
The chairs were painted similar to the table, using lighter brown and beige to create a worn look. The seat pads were created using cut card, kitchen towel and fabric. I stuck cut kitchen towel onto the cut card. The whole thing was then covered in fabric. The chairs were placed and glued around the table.
What a fabulous feast! Makes our mouths water!
Thank you Faye
