Lynne has created a wonderful Album using the gorgeous Life is a Journey paper collection from Graphic 45. So grab yourself a cuppa and a biscuit or two and enjoy seeing how the Album came together.
9" x 9" album, 2 ½” spine, 4 pocket pages, and frame tape to cover top & bottom of pocket pages.
1/8” border of card showing. Spine to be 3/8” from top of album (that will make it 3/8” up from bottom).
Stacking spine as per previous album but with ½” extension.
Spine cut 1 at 8 ¼”s x 3 ½”
1 at 8 ¼” x 2 ½”
Score ½”, 1” each side.
To cover spine and part of front/back inside covers 1 at 8 ¼” x 7 ½” stacking spine etc.
Cut across corners of first ½” on spines; this will make the pocket pages slip onto the spine more easily.
Use card to cover f/b inside covers 8 ¾” x 8 ¾”. I ensure glue/tape covers the entire card because if you put another layer on top and not all of the underneath is stuck down then it may lift and cause air bubbles.
Inside f/b covers (same cutting guide)
Horizontal pockets - 1 at 5 ½” x 9 ¾” (large pocket) and score ½” on 3 sides.
1 at 4” x 9 ¾” and (small pocket) score ½” on 3 sides.
You will be able to fit more photos in these pockets as they are not totally flat. Cut out squares at bottom edges, this will reduce the bulk.
When cutting patterned paper (pp) I allow an extra ½” in height (or length if doing a vertical pocket). I put NO glue on this part but it goes inside the pocket.
Top flap - 1 at 7 1/8” x 8 ¾”, have shorter side along the top of a score board and score at ½” and 5/8”. The 1/8” gusset will make top flap sit better over pockets.
Place magnets on inside of top flap & small pocket.
PP - top flap 2 at 6 ¼” x 8 ½”
Pocket page top - 4 1/8” x 8 ½”
Large pocket – 2” x 8 ½”
Small pocket - 3 ¼” x 8 ½”
Uses 4 sheets 12x12 pp to cover inside f/b covers and use the leftovers to cover inside spines:
1 at 8 ¼” x 2 3/8”
1 at 8 ¼” x 1 7/16”
1 at 8 ¼” x 7/16”
Using largest curved photo slot die on top flap inside and out.
Inside f/b covers completed.
Pages 1 & 5
Horizontal waterfalls
5 at 4 5/8” x 8 ¼”, score ½” (place shorter side along the top of scoreboard)
PP - 10 at 3 7/8” x 8”
1 at 6” x 8” (uses 8”x8” paper pad)
Bellyband - 1 at 7 5/8” x 1 ½”, score ½”, 5/8”, (long side along top of scoreboard) the 1/8” gusset due to bulk of card on waterfall)
PP - 2 at 6 ¾” x 1 ¼” (use up any scraps)
Starting at top of pocket page lay waterfall down. Attach bellyband to bottom of pocket page. Place magnet near top of inside bellyband. Correspond to outside of top waterfall.
Photo Slots Set 1 and Corner Spacers used to align slots.
¾” up from bottom edge, ¼” in from side edges. Photo slot dies will cut through 2 sheets of Graphic 45 paper at a time. I used a Stamp from the CoolKatz Album Text Set.
Page 1 complete.
Pages 2, 4, 6 & 8
Horizontal pockets 1 at 5” x 9 ¼” and score at ½” on 3 sides (large)
1 at 3 ½” x 9 ¼” and score at ½” on 3 sides (small)
Top flap 1 at 5 13/16” x 8 ¼”, score ½”, 5/8”; don’t use magnets as the top flap is held down by mats in small pocket. Mats as closure card 7 ½” x 7 ½” and ‘pp’ 7 ¼”x 7 ¼”
'PP' used 8” x 8”.
Inside top flap placement of photo slots as per page I used corner spacers with a corner punch used for closure mats.
Page 3 & 7
Vertical waterfall
3 at 8 ¼” x 6 ¼”, score at ½” (have shorter side along top of scoreboard)
PP 6 at 8” x 5 ½”
1 at 8” x 7”
Bellyband 1 at 1 ½” x 7 5/8”, score at ½” and 5/8” (long side along top of scoreboard)
‘PP’ 2 at 1 ¼” x 6 ¾”.
Use 2nd largest die from Photo Slot Die Set 2. Attach bellyband to right side of pocket page. Attach magnet to near top of underside. Attach waterfall to left side of pocket page. Attach magnet to top waterfall flap.
